Susan Gray is an Ottawa area artist working in oils, wax and mixed media. Available for commissions, custom work, consultation (hanging, collection, curation) and corporate acquisition.
A lifelong art lover, Susan began painting as a way to stay connected with her grandmother while nurturing her own creativity. A move to British Columbia provided Susan the opportunity to pursue art more seriously at the Vancouver Island School of Art, where she also explored the vibrant West Coast art scene. Now based in the Ottawa area, Susan works from her home studio, with numerous new pieces currently in progress.
Drawing inspiration from nature, where colors and textures blend in random yet perfect harmony, Susan finds joy in creating large-format landscapes, often depicting places she has visited or lived. Through these paintings, she shares her personal experiences and remains forever connected to these special places.
Recently, Susan has embraced a more abstract approach to landscape painting, experimenting with mixed media, including cold wax. She enjoys blurring the lines between realism and abstraction—some days fully immersed in one style, and other days in the other.
Active in the local arts community, Susan serves on the Board of Directors for Arts Carleton Place, where she champions Art in Public Places, creating opportunities for ACP members to showcase their work. As a practicing artist, she has participated in various juried group shows, including ACP’s 2022 Fine Art Show and Sale, their most successful to date. Her works are held in private collections across North America.
Susan accepts a limited number of commissions each year. Please contact her for inquiries about custom work, commissions, or corporate collections.
